Trainings:

Cook to Work

  • would you like to use your existing cooking skills to find work?
  • would you like to find flexible work
  • would you like to learn professional Food Techniques skills

You can join- if 

  • you live Newham, Waltham Forest, Redbridge, Barking & Dagenham and Hackney
  • you are aged over 16 + 

The Cook to Work training programme specifically designed to help local unemployed women who -

  • are unable to work due to a family commitment
  • lack the skills to find a job
  • want to improve their literacy skills.
  • want to improve their spoken English and feel more confident
  • would like to gain qualifications
  • are looking for part-time employment or self-employment

You will learn all the necessary skills to work in the catering industry, cafes and restaurants businesses or run your own business

  • Food Safety (Level 2 certificate)
  • Food preparation techniques- knife techniques and presentation techniques
  • Practical cooking of world cuisine.
  • Baking- cake making
  • ESOL- Level 3 or literacy Level 1
  • Advice on tax and impact on benefit
  • Advice on self employment
  • Voluntary work in a real work environment
  • Employment /self-employment opportunity

This half day workshop provides in detailed information on 'Access to Work-

  • How to apply 'Access to Work'.
  • When to apply and who can apply
  • The amount of funding available
  • Employers responsibilities
  • Candidates responsibilities
